Grants

We provide grants for the repair and improvement of places of Christian worship of all denominations.

Who can apply?
Any place of Christian worship within Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and North Bristol.
What conditions apply to your grants?

Only one application may be made per church, in any one calendar year.

Grants will not normally be offered for substantial repairs unless the work has been specified by an architect or surveyor with appropriate conservation training.

For Church of England churches, application must be made to the DAC for a faculty or approval under List B. Similar provisions apply for other exempt denominations such as Roman Catholic and Methodist and you must make it clear how far the approval process has progressed.

Applicants are expected to support the work of the Trust by an annual donation and/or by taking part in the annual sponsored Ride+Stride event.

Your church must be adequately insured and properly maintained.

Does my church have to be a donor to the Trust in order to apply?

No, but the Grants Committee is likely to be more generous to those which do support the Trust. When grants are awarded we ask applicants to support the annual Ride+Stride event and display posters and information about the work of the Trust.

When can we apply?

The Grants Committee normally meets on the first Monday of June and December. The deadlines for applications are 30th April and 31st October.

Who can I contact for further information?

General enquiries can be made to the Grants Secretary Dr Ray Singleton at grants@ghct.org.uk
