Join the GHCT Ride+Stride on 12th September 2026!
Looking for a fantastic day out that combines local history, fresh air, and community spirit?
On Saturday, 12th September 2026, the Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust (GHCT) is hosting its annual Ride+Stride event, and you are invited to take part!
What is Ride+Stride?
Ride+Stride is a wonderful annual event where participants are sponsored to travel between our beautiful local churches. Whether you prefer to walk, cycle, ride on horseback, or even use public transport, the choice is entirely yours. You can make it a relaxed family day out visiting a few local spots, or set yourself a challenge to visit as many churches as possible.
The best part? You don’t need to be a churchgoer to get involved. Whether you are a history lover, an architecture enthusiast, or want to support the buildings at the heart of your community, everyone is welcome.
Where Does the Money Go?
All funds raised are split between the Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust (GHCT) and a church of your choosing. Your sponsorship money makes a real difference in preserving and maintaining our local historic and contemporary churches for future generations to enjoy.
How to Get Involved
- As part of your local church: Get in touch with your church’s local organiser to join their team. They may already have a JustGiving page set up!
- As an individual or group: Going solo, with friends, or with colleagues? It’s easy to set up your own JustGiving page and plan a route.
- Host an event: Not keen on walking or cycling? You can still raise money by hosting a heritage open day, coffee morning, or bake sale at your local church.
Plan Your Adventure
Many churches will be specially open on the day, offering a fantastic opportunity to explore the stunning buildings in our local area. To find a list of participating churches, browse route ideas, or download your sponsorship forms, visit the official GHCT website.
