St Bart’s, Lower Cam Grant Update

A Clearer Sound, A More Welcoming Church

We are incredibly grateful to GHCT for their grant towards installing a new sound system at St Bart’s.

For some time, we received feedback and complaints from people who struggled to hear clearly during services; this made us hesitant to hold events. We recognised that this was creating a barrier for some members of our congregation and visitors and that improving the sound system was an important step in making our church more accessible and welcoming to everyone.

The new system was completed at the beginning of August, and it has already made a huge difference. The feedback we have received so far has been excellent, with people commenting on how much clearer and easier it is to hear. This means more people can fully participate in worship, regardless of where they sit in the church. It also has encouraged us to hold a concert, which we wouldn’t have considered before.

This project is a wonderful example of how investment in our historic churches can bring about positive, practical changes that directly benefit the communities who use them. Accessibility is an important part of ensuring that everyone feels welcome at St Bart’s and this new sound system is helping us achieve that. Grants are vital in enabling churches like us to make improvements that might otherwise be beyond our reach. They allow us to care for our building while, importantly, ensuring that it remains a welcoming, accessible and inclusive place for everyone.

We are very grateful for the support and delighted to see such a positive impact from this investment.
