Celebrating Harry’s Success – Inspiring the Next Generation

Celebrating Harry’s Success – and Inspiring the Next Generation of Church Enthusiasts

We’re delighted to share some fantastic news about one of our younger supporters, Harry, whose enthusiasm for historic churches and dedication to visiting them have been a real inspiration to us all.

Congratulate Harry on his degree

Harry has not only completed his undergraduate degree – he’s achieved a First Class Honours! Even more impressively, he has been accepted to study for an MSc in Building History at the University of Cambridge this autumn. This is a remarkable achievement, and we couldn’t be prouder to see one of our friends in the church heritage world achieving such success.

Before starting this exciting new chapter, Harry is taking a month to explore more of Gloucestershire’s beautiful churches on foot – hiking across our county and visiting some much-loved places of worship. One of his stops will be Lechlade, a church that’s already generating a real buzz within the DAC (Diocesan Advisory Committee), and we can’t wait to hear Harry’s impressions. He’s even promised to send us a report!

Harry’s passion for church history began at a young age, and his story is a fantastic reminder that there’s a place for people of all ages in the work we do. The Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust welcomes anyone who wants to get involved – whether it’s visiting churches, helping with fundraising, sharing stories, or supporting our annual Ride+Stride event.

We wish Harry every success in Cambridge and look forward to hearing more about his journeys over the coming months. We also hope his story will inspire more young people to discover the beauty, history, and community spirit found in the churches of Gloucestershire.
