Legacies

It’s thanks to gifts from previous generations that we can still enjoy our wonderful church buildings.

After providing for those you love, leaving a gift in your will is a very personal way to make a lasting difference to a cause you care about.

If you or your family are from the historic county of Gloucestershire, it’s likely that many of your ancestors have been baptised, married or had their funerals in one or more of our wonderful local churches or chapels. With your help we can continue to maintain this heritage for future generations.

Since the start of our work in 1981, the GHCT has become the first port of call for the Gloucestershire church appeal treasurer. We have a simple and helpful application process and our grant will often be the first success for a church appeal. We know the arrival of our grant letter is a huge encouragement to volunteers seeking funding!

Leaving a legacy to Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust will help that work continue so that future generations can enjoy them too. To leave a legacy, you need to update your will with clear instructions.

We suggest contacting your solicitor, who will also be able to advise you about the tax advantages of leaving a charitable legacy, which could reduce your Inheritance Tax liability. The Charities Aid Foundation also offers a very convenient legacy service.

Please contact us if you are interested in leaving a legacy to Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust.

If you simply wish to add a legacy to the GHCT to an existing will, you may find our Codicil Form helpful.
