Celebrating Gloucestershire’s Sacred Heritage at St Andrew’s URC
Pilgrim Talk helping to celbrate Gloucestershire’s Sacred Heritage at St Andrew’s URC
At the beginning of October, the Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust was delighted to host a fascinating talk by Dr Nick Mayhew-Smith at St Andrew’s United Reformed Church.
St Andrew’s is currently undergoing significant restoration work on its spire – a project we are proud to support through one of our grants. Holding the talk here felt especially meaningful; our guests had the chance to see first-hand where our funding is making a tangible difference, ensuring this historic place of worship can be enjoyed by generations to come.
Dr Nick Mayhew-Smith treated us to an insightful and engaging exploration of Gloucestershire’s sacred heritage, uncovering the rich stories and traditions that have shaped the county’s spiritual landscape. The event attracted an excellent turnout, with attendees sharing their appreciation for the depth of knowledge and enthusiasm Dr Mayhew-Smith brought to the evening.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Dr Nick Mayhew-Smith for his inspiring talk, and to St Andrew’s URC for opening their doors and welcoming us into such a beautiful space. We also extend our gratitude to our supporters – without your donations, vital restoration projects like St Andrew’s spire simply wouldn’t be possible.
Below are a few photographs from the event, capturing both the atmosphere of the evening and the splendour of this historic church.
