Everything You Need to Know About Chorley’s Valuation Days
Following our exciting announcement that Chorley's has chosen GHCT as their Charity of the Year, we wanted to share all the practical details so you can make the most of this wonderful initiative.
Your Questions Answered
What actually happens at a valuation day?
Think Antiques Roadshow, but in the beautiful surroundings of some of Gloucestershire's most cherished historic churches. Simply bring along any items you're curious about — whether that's a piece of jewellery, a painting, an ornament, or anything else that's been sitting in a cupboard — and an expert from Chorley's will assess it for you. There's no obligation to do anything further; it's a great day out in its own right.
Refreshments will be on hand at each event, kindly provided by the host church, with proceeds going directly to that church.
How does donating through the auction work?
If you'd like to take things a step further and enter your item into Chorley's Autumn auction, you can choose to donate a percentage of your sale price to GHCT. Chorley's will then waive their sales fee on that donated portion — so your generosity costs you nothing extra.
For example: if a teapot sells for £200 and you've chosen to donate 50%, GHCT receives £100 and you only pay a sales fee on the remaining £100. Please note that all items entered into the auction through the valuation days must include a percentage donation to GHCT.
