Supporting Our Churches, Preserving Our Heritage
On Saturday 13th September, communities across Gloucestershire & North Bristol will once again come together for Ride+Stride, our annual fundraising event that makes a vital difference to the future of local churches.
Every year, participants walk, cycle, ride, or drive between churches and chapels, raising money through sponsorship to help preserve these extraordinary buildings. And every year, the impact is real and tangible: without the support of Ride+Stride and the generosity of local communities, many of these churches could not carry out the repairs they desperately need.
Why Your Support Matters
Gloucestershire & North Bristol churches are at the heart of our communities. They are places of worship, history, gathering, and support but maintaining these historic buildings is costly and demanding. Grants from GHCT, made possible by events like Ride+Stride, help ensure these churches remain open and welcoming for generations to come.
Previous projects supported through GHCT include:
- St Peter’s Church, Ampney St. Peter – Renewal of the north aisle roof and both sides of the tower roof
- St Stephen’s, Cinderford – Restoration of the flooring
- St Michael & All Angels, Bishops Cleeve - Repair/Restore stone floor
- Easton Family Christian Centre, North Bristol - Replace the roof, windows and doors and add wall cavity insulation
All four of these churches will be open to welcome Ride+Stride visitors this September, so you can see first-hand how your efforts and donations are making a difference.
How You Can Get Involved
- Take part on the day: Join friends, family, or community groups to visit churches across the county. Whether you’re walking, cycling, horse riding, or driving you’ll enjoy a day of discovery while raising vital funds.
- Support from home: If you can’t be there in person, you can still contribute by donating online. Every pound raised goes directly towards protecting and preserving our churches.
